Description:
Over the 3 weeks I spent in Iceland during midsummer 2023, this particular spot drew me back most of all. The hills covered in lupine meadows and back-dropped by icebergs and a glacier felt unreal, as if I were walking through a fantasy land. It never got dark out during the midsummer nights, and we must have spent at least 5 nights here during our trip, coming back time and time again in search of magic light.
This was captured during a fleeting moment where the 3am sun broke through behind the clouds, lighting up thousands of diamond-like raindrops on the lupines and reflecting off the glacier ice. I quickly set up this shot, threw on the most Elven-like dress (because one always needs to be prepared to step into these fantasy-like scenes), and then I stood out in the meadow to capture this... and just in time, for not even 5 minutes later the sun hid again behind the moody Icelandic clouds, not to be seen for several days. But that just makes these fleeting moments seem all the more magical to witness.
